Update: Our Partnership with Saint-Gobain

Today, we at The Bailey Group of Companies (Bailey Metal Products, Bailey Metal Processing, and Agway Metals) begin the next chapter in our story, as we close our acquisition with Saint-Gobain North America. As leaders in light and sustainable construction, with a Purpose of Making the World a Better Home, we can think of no better partner to continue our work to provide Canadian-made metal framing and building solutions to our customers.

By partnering with Saint-Gobain North America, Bailey will continue to play a leading role in the Canadian construction industry. Alongside other Saint-Gobain Canada businesses CertainTeed Canada, Kaycan, and Building Products of Canada, we will bring a full portfolio of building solutions, both interior and exterior to our customers from the Maritimes to British Columbia.

From its founding by Sam Bailey in 1950 to today, Bailey has been dedicated to quality service, exceeding customer expectations and operating with integrity. That will continue over the coming days, weeks and years. Even with the acquisition complete, the day-to-day experience won’t change for our employees or customers, and we will still operate in the market as Bailey. We can assure you that our drive to provide quality, sustainable products and excellent customer service will continue. Looking back at 2020, one of our favorite traditions is that of giving back to our local communities. The COVID-19 pandemic affected the food bank and charitable sector heavily, impacting supply lines, affecting donation levels and increasing demand. Hospitals and the health care sector have also been overwhelmed and require more support than ever. We believe Canadians should never go hungry and should always have access to health care, especially during the holiday season. In moments like these, it was natural for Bailey to come together and help our fellow Canadians. The Bailey family made a generous donation of $5000 to various charities across Canada, some of which we have highlighted below:  

Edmonton Food Bank

Since 1981 the Edmonton Food Bank has served the Edmonton Community, helping over 20,000 people each month. They work to eliminate hunger and ensure citizens have access to an adequate and nutritious supply of food. Learn how you can help at https://www.edmontonsfoodbank.com/

Backpack Buddies

Backpack Buddies are dedicated to ensuring the most vulnerable children have access to food. Many children rely heavily on school meal programs but over the weekend may not eat at all until school starts again on Monday. B.C. has one of the highest child poverty rates in Canada. An astounding 1 in 5 children is living below the poverty line. Backpack Buddies' goal is to reduce child hunger by supporting 16 school districts and dozens of neighborhoods across the province. Seniors Secret Service

Since 1985, the mission of the Seniors Secret Service has been to enhance the quality of life, and bring cheer to individuals 60 years or older, who are alone or isolated in the Calgary community. It has now grown to 8 locations across Canada and we now produce a wide selection of products and systems.

We couldn't have achieved this milestone without our customers and employees. Your support and loyalty have helped Bailey grow these past 70 years. This is the start of something great! We broke ground on our new office in Vancouver last month and had a lovely groundbreaking ceremony. We are excited to share with you the construction progress of the future home of Bailey West Metal Products.

Following a long, successful career in the steel industry, Former Vice President Kenneth J. Meinert has retired from Bailey Metal Products on March 31st, 2018.

Kenneth J. Meinert, who joined the executive team in 2010, has more than two decades of experience in the gypsum industry, including time as CEO of the Canadian Gypsum Company.

During his time at Bailey Metal Products, he was heavily involved with the growth of the company, provided help in the third-party certification of our Platinum Plus drywall studs, and provided valuable leadership. We thank Kenneth for his service and dedication to serving our customers and helping Bailey achieve new heights.

He is also on the board of Habitat for Humanity and has also contributed to many charities over the past several years. His dedication to his community and his kind heart has touched the lives of many people.

We are also proud to announce three new VP appointments: Malcolm Nobbs for Strategic Development, Mark Griffioen for Operations, and Derick Vinthers for Sales.

A farewell reception was held on March 27th for Kenneth J. Meinert, at the Bellagio where many friends, colleges, coworkers, and well-wishers attended.

Platinum™ Plus drywall framing studs have been produced and shipped to job sites across Canada since early 2015.  These Contractor preferred studs meet or exceed Canadian building codes and ASTM standards for manufacturing and performance.  These studs are now 3^rd party certified to do just that.  This rigorous in plant certification by CWB Group provides assurance for users and specifiers.

Platinum™ Plus is the first drywall framing system in Canada to be certified to CSSBI 61-2017.  CSSBI – Canadian Sheet Steel Building Institute is Canada’s foremost authority on sheet steel, its products, and its’ many applications.  All reputable stud producers belong to CSSBI.

This Canadian certification program affirms that all Platinum™ Plus steel stud and track products meet defined ASTM, AISI and CSA code requirements.  This assurance; combined with extensive sound and fire testing, provides confidence to specifiers and builders. 

This new certification program will elevate the expectations and quality standards from all manufactures.  All CSSBI members are required to produce code compliant product and be certified by July 2018.

Customer satisfaction and quality is Bailey’s top priority.

This past month the "Mickey Mouse's House of the Future" was held at the first annual "EDIT" (Expo for Design, Innovation & Technology) in Toronto. The "Mickey Mouse's House of the Future" is a collaboration between Design Exchange, Disney and OCAD (Ontario College of Art and Design University) with support and endorsement from the Ontario Government. Students were invited to submit proposals to design the interior of "Mickey Mouse’s Home of the Future."

The house is a fully functioning house made from recycled shipping containers. The purpose of the "Mickey Mouse’s Home of the Future" is to envision a futuristic home that focuses on a sustainable way of living. The winning design considered sustainable solutions to interior and industrial design and paid homage to Mickey Mouse.

Bailey is delighted to have been a part of an amazing project by supporting and donating building materials through our partnership with Home Depot. We continue to support building innovation and look forward to a more sustainable future in housing

For Canada's 150^th Anniversary, Bailey Metal Products Ltd held a contest. We gave away free Canada 150^th T-shirts to contractors across Canada to wear to show their Canadian Pride.

We held a raffle and the winner was Andrew from Ontario! 

We put together a video slideshow to show all the hardworking Canadian Contractors who make Canada wonderful.  

Thank you to all those who entered and helped make this contest a success. Happy Canada’s 150^th!

Bailey Metal Products is excited and proud to be had been a part of the Carter Work Project by Habitat for Humanity for Canada’s 150^th Anniversary.  Bailey’s employees participated in building 150 homes for 150 families, including indigenous families across Canada this week.

The Carter Work Project is headed by former President Jimmy Carter and former first lady Rosalynn Carter of the United States. The purpose of this project is to provide accessible and affordable homeownership for many struggling families. Bailey Metal Products believe in Canadians having stable and secure housing.

Bailey Employees attended the Heart and Stroke Foundation’s “Big Bike” run on June 14th, 2017. It was a day of fun and exercise. We are proud to have raised over $6000 for heart and stroke research.

Thank you to all who have participated, donated and supported our team this past year. Without you, this event would not have been possible. Also, thank you to the Heart and Stroke Foundation for hosting such a wonderful event. See you next year!

Bailey Metal Products is proud to have sponsored Nota de The Passion Church by donating building materials & toys. These toys were sent to a local Hospital in South America on Edward Sanchez’s mission trip. These toys brought happiness to a group of children’s who will have a toy and a word of love and hope. This particular group of children’s are dealing with cancer and we are glad that here at Bailey, we can do something in our small part of the world.
